On Friday morning, we invited our families to join us so we could share our writing and published work with them. Mr Lomas, Mrs Todd, Mrs Jones and Mrs Gartland also visited our classroom. We finished the morning with a delicious shared morning tea. Later in the day, we thought about what we liked, didn't like and found interested about our Omnibus. We wrote our ideas on a PMI thinking map, see if you agree. Students who wanted to share their writing with people at home who were unable to come to our Omnibus took their writing books home for the weekend.
Here are some of the pictures from the morning.

Cockle Bay Carnival - Room 19 workshop
Room 19's challenge was to make sixty numbered labels for the mystery bottles at the Cockle Bay carnival. Here we are working on them, and the finished products.

Mathletics Hall of Fame
Callum was featured on the Mathletics Hall of Fame this week. The Wall of Fame calculates how many points you get in a short period of time and ranks you with other Mathletics users, so if YOU want to be featured, you need to choose a time and work on Mathletics for about an hour or so (not six lots of ten minutes spread over a week).
Congratulations, Callum!

Lloyd Elsmore Trip
On Tuesday, Room 2 and 19 went to Lloyd Elsmore to learn about water confidence. We were divided into three groups and each group rotated around three activities designed to increase our water confidence.
In one activity, we learned to jump in the deep end and float wearing a life jacket. We learned how to cuddle up in a tight group to stay warm in the water.
We had a go at snorkelling and retrieving objects from the bottom of the pool. We learned how to blow sharply to push the water out of our snorkel.
We also tried kayaking and learned the safe way to get into a kayak. The more confident kayakers had a go at eskimo rolls.

Weka Assembly
The Weka Team presented their school assembly, based on the typical school day of people in the Weka Team. We performed a fraction rap and action poems; reading tips, writing about squirrel and an eagle and . . . best of all . . . the song and drama about what the fox says. You can view the entire youtube clip of our song on the Cockle Bay Face Book page or click on this link:

Out of this World
We collaborated this others to make marble runs and rockets for our space wall during our space theme, Out of this World.
We also made moon play dough - we mixed in black food colouring and silver sparkles to give it a lunar quality.
We made moon rocks to help us solve fraction problems involving numbers, not just shapes.

Rainbow City - calendar art
Room 19 talked about a Rainbow City with red strawberries, yellow bananas and green broccoli to eat, orange juice and purple cranberry juice to drink; blue, green, red and yellow Lego to play with; blue swimming pools and green grass to play in . . . then we painted the houses we would like to live in. We have used this as the theme for our calendar art this year.
In the last week of term, we will put up rainbow fairy lights, use rainbow rubbers and eat rainbow coloured m&ms as we write about our Rainbow City - watch this space!
