Red Cabbage Fashion

On Friday, the Science Club made a scientific indicator out of a HUGE red cabbage.  At the school assembly, we could see the indicator changing colour as it was mixed with different solutions. Afterwards, we enjoyed dressing up in the very latest cabbage fashion to hit our streets this summer.

A Birthday Princess

The day after Market Day (26th November) was a special day for Lauren as she turned eight years old.  Here she is looking like a beautiful Vietnamese princess.  How lucky to have a Mum who went to Vietnam just before her birthday!

Coco's Chinese lessons

Coco in her Chinese class.
Some students are so clever in Room 19 that they can speak two languages.  As well as speaking  Chinese, Coco is learning how to write all the characters.  She goes to special lessons after school in the library every week.  Great effort, Coco.

The Hot Choc Rock Cafe

At last it was Market Day.  We set out our stall and waited for our customers.  They weren't far away!  People chose their chocolate dipped spoon and then stirred it in hot milk for a creamy, freshly made hot chocolate drink.  Soon our cafe was full of delighted customers.

In the afternoon, we counted up all the money we had made.  We had $236!!!!  The ingredients (plastic spoons and cups, chocolate buttons, sprinkles, silver balls and milk) cost $50 so we calculated that we had made $186 profit!
Ready for our first customer.
Customers found it hard to choose just one spoon - they were all so delicious.
Soon there was only a few left!
After they had chosen their chocolate spoon, customers waited for their hot milk.
The cafe was soon full of customers enjoying their freshly stirred hot chocolate.
Mr Lomas's roses had a little bit of a prune as we collected flowers for our cafe.

CBS Market Day

As part of our Money Matters theme, every class had a stall on Market Day on Wednesday, 25th November.  There was a lot of work to do before the day:  tying ribbons around our spoons, dipping the spoons in melted chocolate, decorating them with marshmallows, sprinkles and silver balls before the chocolate set and making posters to advertise our stall.
Here we are decorating our spoons with ribbons.
We had to advertise or otherwise no one would know what we were selling.
The posters gave our customers all the information they needed.

Aiden's Minecraft money box

Aiden and his Minecraft money box
As part of our Money Matters theme, students were invited to make a money box.  There were over a hundred money boxes to choose from.  Everyone thought Aiden's Minecraft money box was cool.

Constellations

Everyone used their imagination to write a narrative about their own constellation and how it came to be in the sky.  Then we drew our constellations in our starry sky.  We also made telescopes so we can see them when we look though them.

Charlie's Chocolate Factory

Charlie was in the chocolate factory showing off his marvellous chocolate spoon making mountain. You can just see Obalopa Mrs Bear mixing the runny sweet chocolate because a market day is coming !!!!!!!!

You can't have a Chocolate Factory without Charlie!

Monique and Charlotte's pirate adventure

It's 100 pieces and we started really slow getting all the pieces flipped onto the right side. Then we found all the corner pieces. It was a hard journey.

Athletics Day

Years 3 to 6 went to Howick College for Athletics Day.  We all competed in long jump, high jump, softball throw and sprints.  Everyone performed to the best of their ability, with many competitors beating their own personal best.  Unfortunately rain stopped play in the afternoon, so one event and the sprint finals were carried over to another day.

Weka Day Camp

You had to be patient and wait a long time for the sausages to cook.
Orienteering map, chart . . .  ready to go!
It was a good feeling coming back to base with your orienteering chart stamped, ready for the next map.
We had to read our orienteering map carefully to check that we went in the right direction to find our flag.
We had to pierce the sausages to check if they were cooked in the middle.
Our camp cooling definitely hit the spot!

We were able to try the tents out for size, once we had erected them with parents' help.

While there were lots of steps to climb, there were also plenty of downhill sections where the going was a bit easier

We had to follow our maps on the tramp to find our way through the Totora Bush.
Weka Day Camp definitely deserved a Hi 5!
