In week one, we made a saturated solution of baking soda and water. We poured some of the solution into two beakers and joined them with a piece of wool We weighed each end down so the wool stayed in the water . . . and waited. After the weekend we could see the water had travelled up and along the wool. As the water evaporated, so the crystals were left behind on the wool, in much the the same way as stalactites are made.
