m & m experiment



On Wednesday we placed m&ms in bowls of water to see what would happen.  The coloured sugar coats on the outside of the m&ms dissolved and coloured the water making distinct patterns.   We found the blue dye dissolved the fastest.  The colours stayed separate because the density of the different coloured dyes is slightly different.  Afterwards we could eat the (wet) chocolate. Fortunately, it still tasted the same in the middle!
